FREEMANVSTHE SAXs

THE SAXOPHONE WAS NEVER THE WHOLE PICTURE.

R. Freeman is a Guadeloupean multi-instrumentalist, producer and DJ. For more than two decades, his international career has taken him to the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada, across the Caribbean and South America, as well as Cambodia, Laos and Réunion Island. He has performed under his own name and through numerous projects and collaborations, including Faada Freddy, Dowdelin, the Sonny Troupé Quartet, 12Mé & Raph and Tropical Gangtaz.

Drawing on that experience, he has refined a hybrid formula combining DJing with live instrumental performance, in which the saxophone is woven into the very construction of his sets. Freeman vs The SAXs is not merely the culmination of that approach: it is its transcendent evolution.

Alto, soprano and baritone saxophones become the protagonists of a show that constantly builds in intensity, joined by vocals, electronic percussion, original productions and bespoke mashups. His Guadeloupean and Caribbean identity runs through the entire show: gwo-ka, dancehall and Afro-Caribbean rhythms meet deep house, Afro house and hip-hop.

Immediate, danceable, hard-hitting and unpredictable, Freeman vs The SAXs blends eclecticism with virtuosity to create a unique experience that adapts to every venue and audience.
